Youth ladder rules and scoring

The goal of the ladder is to play matches. You climb the ladder by challenging players and winning, but there are points to be earned even if you don't win the entire match. 

At the start of the season, all of the players will start in 'first' place on the ladder. From that point, as matches are played and points are earned, players will move up/down the ladder accordingly. 

Once the season begins, you can go into the link to initiate a challenge with another player or accept a challenge another player has issued. 

 There are two ways to issue a challenge: 

• Open Proposal (most common/flexible): a player will go out to their ladder and issue a challenge to the entire pool with a specific date/time/location for the match. Another player will accept that challenge and you're off to the races! 
• Direct Challenge: a player will go out to their ladder and issue a challenge to a specific player for a specific date/time/location. The other player will accept or deny the challenge based on their availability. 

After the match, the winner will input the score, and the points associated with the match will dictate their movement up or down the ladder. 

The more you play, the more points you accumulate and the higher you climb the ladder. 

• NOTE: this natural ladder movement can mean you move down the ladder even without having played a match — you can track ladder movement through the website! 

After the match is completed, the winner submits the match score via the app or the website

• Winners are expected to post the score immediately following the match or within 24 hours 
• The opponent has 24 hours to contest the score 

At the end of the season, the top four players will advance to a bracket-style one day tournament

• 1st and 4th place will play; winner advances to final and plays winner of 2nd /3rd match
• 2nd and 3rd place will play; winner advances to final and plays winner of 1st/4th match

Winner of the final match will be crowned the ladder winner for the season!
